General Information

What is glamping?

Glamping is basically glamourous camping. Perfect for those who love to camp but want to avoid the time-consuming setup. Perfect for those who love a hotel or AirBNB stay but want a little bit more of an outdoor experience. No setting up a tent because your accommodation is already set up. No need for a sleeping bag because your bed is already made and waiting for you. No need to worry about the weather because your glamping unit is insulated and heated. No need to worry about bringing your camping gas hob as our camper’s kitchen has got all you need!

How do I make a reservation?

Reservations can be made through our website's booking page here or by calling us on +353 (0)949861307.

What are your check-in and check-out times?

Check in time is 2pm and check out time is 11am.

Is there a minimum stay requirement?

We may on certain events or bank holiday weekends have minimum stay requirements for certain accommodation units but in general there is no minimum stay requirement.

What is your cancellation policy?

Where bookings are cancelled more than 30 days before arrival, we can offer a refund (minus small booking fee) or a change of dates. Where a booking is cancelled less than 30 days before arrival, we do not offer a refund or change of dates, however in certain cases, where we manage to fill the pitch / glamping unit for the cancelled night, we will offer a refund / change of dates. Are pets allowed?

Campers in tents / caravans / campervans etc. may bring their pets free of charge. Yurty and the Tramp and Podagascar are pet friendly (a charge applies for bringing your pet) but pets are not allowed in any other glamping units. Pets are not allowed into communal buildings, they must be on a lead at all times when on site, and owners are responsible for picking up dog poos.

Are there Hot Tubs on site?

Our ‘Yurty Ahern’ and ‘Yurty & The Tramp’ yurts each include a private wood fired hot tub, for the use of those booking these two units only. We will provide you with your wood and instructions on lighting the wood fired stove.

Is the site family-friendly and do you have a noise curfew?

Very much so, we are very much geared towards making sure the kiddies have a fun time here (see the Kids Activities page of this website). We also have a strict noise curfew from midnight to 8am so that everyone gets a good night’s sleep.

Is there a curfew for entering or leaving the site?

There is no strict curfew, but we ask guests to be mindful of noise levels during quiet hours when arriving or departing.

Is smoking allowed on-site?

Yes, however no smoking is allowed inside any buildings and please take your cigarette butts with you.

Is there Wi-Fi on-site?

Nope! We are more of a ‘back to nature’ type campsite There is limited phone coverage on site (Vodafone is generally ok) and for emergencies only, we do have a reliable internet connection at reception if needed.

Do you accommodate dietary restrictions in pizza packs?

Yes, we have gluten free pizza bases and vegan cheese available on request.

Can we bring our own alcohol?

Yes, however we make it very clear that this is not a party site. Guests in an intoxicated state will be asked to leave.

How can we provide feedback about our stay?

We welcome and appreciate your feedback! We would love to hear your thoughts on Google, Facebook, or Trip Advisor.

Is there access to the lake and river 24 hours per day?

No. Access to this area of the site is allowed only during daylight hours (this part of the site does not have lighting). ‘No Access’ times will change with the seasons throughout the year and will be sign posted beside the gate. Anyone found to be in the restricted area after the time posted will be asked to leave immediately without a refund.

Glamping

What types of accommodations do you offer?

Our site features a range of options, including Mongolian yurts (some with private hot tubs) glamping pods and a 200-year-old converted farm building. More details on our Glamping page. We also have camping pitches.

Do the accommodations have private bathrooms?

No, all guests use the toilets and showers in our communal toilet and shower block.

Is bedding provided, or should we bring our own?

Yes, beds will be made up with fresh linen ahead of your arrival.

What do I need to bring?

While we try to cater for your comfort and enjoyment you are still camping in the great outdoors, and we are at the mercy of the weather.

Some essentials to bring are:

  • Wet weather gear, jackets, wellies, and an umbrella (just in case)
  • Towels
  • Cosy Pjs, slippers and socks
  • Food for your lunch and dinner, (For glamping guests we supply the continental breakfast and for lunch / dinner pizza packs for the pizza oven can be purchased on site) There are communal fridges that can be used to keep your snacks chilled.
  • Phone chargers
  • Torch
  • Musical instruments and sketch pads if you so wish.
What will be provided for me?

The following will be provided for all glamping guests:

  • Warm, comfortable, and dry accommodation
  • Beds and linen
  • Electricity points within glamping units
  • Toilet and shower facilities
  • Camper’s kitchen with all appliances
  • Continental breakfast each morning
  • Tea/coffee making facilities.
Is there electricity and heating in the accommodation units?

Yes, all units are equipped with electricity and heating to ensure a comfortable stay.

Are cooking facilities available?

Yes, our camper’s kitchen is available for use from 10am – 10pm.

Do you offer accommodations suitable for guests with disabilities?

We are working on making our site more accessible, but we are not yet in a position to say we are ‘Disability friendly’. It is something we are aiming for in the future however. Please see the Accessibility Info page of this website.

Camping

What types of camping pitches are available?

We have both powered and unpowered pitches suitable for tents, campervans, caravans, motorhomes, roof tents, and trailer tents. See the Camping page of this website for more information.

Are campfires allowed on-site?

Campfires are not allowed at the pitches however we do have one communal firepit which anyone may use up to 11pm. Bags of logs are available to buy at reception or you may bring your own.

Are there laundry facilities available?

Not on site however there are a laundrette and a coin laundry station in Ballaghaderreen which is a 5-minute drive from site.

What restroom and shower facilities are available?

We offer clean and modern communal restrooms and showers, accessible 24/7.

Is there a water supply at the camping pitches?

Not at individual pitches however we have multiple water points on site including one that you can drive right up to.

Are generators permitted?

No, generators are not permitted on site.

For Kids

What activities are available for children?

We offer a range of child-friendly attractions, activities, and events. More on this in the Kids Activities page.

Is there a playground on-site?

Not a traditional swings and slides playground. Our faerie garden, with cubby house, and mud kitchen as well as the vast open space offer kids more of a nature-based play experience.

Do you offer any educational programs for kids?

Our Kids art classes and art and nature camps, teach kids to follow their curiosity in a playful way helping them to develop in their artistic thought, self-expression, problem solving, social skills and friendships.

Local Area

What are some nearby attractions?

The local area has lots to offer particularly for those interested in history. You will find more details on different destinations in our Discover the Hidden Heartlands page.

Are there hiking or biking trails nearby?

Yes, there are several scenic trails accessible directly from our site. You can also find a wider range of trails here.

Where is the nearest grocery store or supermarket?

The Supervalu in Ballaghaderreen we are often told by guests is the ‘best SuperValu in ireland’ because it has everything! It’s a 5-minute drive from our gates.

Are there local dining options?

Yes, there are several restaurants and cafes offering a range of cuisines within a short drive from our site. Some options are described in more detail on the Explore the hidden heartlands page of this website.

Is there public transportation available nearby?

The Bus Eireann no. 22 bus from Dublin / Dublin Airport stops in Ballaghaderreen (5-minute drive from our site) and we also keep a list of local taxi numbers to hand at reception. Please get in touch if you would like to book a local taxi.

Activities and Events

What activities are available on-site?

Do you host events or workshops?

Yes, we regularly host events and workshops, including our Creative Writing Retreats, Halloween Events, and our Willowbrook Whispers series of intimate concerts. Please check our Willowbrook Events page for upcoming events.

Do you offer School Tours to your site?

Yes indeed. We are extremely busy with School Tours in May and June in particular, get in touch if you would like to book in your school class.

Do you offer Team Building packages onsite?

Yes, we do. We have standard packages which you will find here but we can also tailor a team building day around the needs of your group.

Can we host events at your site?

Absolutely! Willowbrook is available as a venue for wellness retreats, spiritual retreats, family gatherings etc. We have hosted everything from board game retreats to Ableton Live workshops to rocket launching days. If you have an idea, contact us and we will see what we can do for you.

Booking and Policies

Is a deposit required to secure a booking?

Yes, a 50% deposit is required at the time of booking, with the balance due 30 days before arrival.

What payment methods do you accept?

All bookings must be paid in full by credit / debit card before arrival.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes, gift vouchers are available for purchase here and make a perfect gift for friends and family.

Is there a security deposit required?

Only for large group bookings.

What is your policy on noise and quiet hours?

To ensure a peaceful environment for all guests, quiet hours are enforced from midnight to 8am.

What happens in case of bad weather?

Our accommodation units are designed to withstand the most extreme weather conditions. However, if our location is under a STATUS RED weather warning, we will close, and bookings will be rescheduled or refunded (minus booking fee). In the case of a STATUS ORANGE weather warning, guests will be given the option to reschedule their trip if they wish, or to come as planned. A STATUS YELLOW weather warning is business as usual.

Are there any additional fees we should be aware of?

We don’t have hidden charges here. There are no charges for showers, extra vehicles, awnings etc. We only have additional charges for things with an associated cost to us (Use of pizza oven, bags of logs for the fire, Kids art classes, camps, discos, movie nights etc.).

Is there parking available on-site?

Complimentary parking is available for all guests. Each glamping unit and camping pitch includes one parking spot, and we have an additional parking area on site also.

Are there any age restrictions for bookings?

Guests must be eighteen or older to make a reservation. Minors must be accompanied by an adult during their stay.
