About Us

Hello! We are Tuesday and Wes, and together with our little daughter, Ziggy, we are your hosts at Willowbrook Glamping and hideaways. We took over the running of Willowbrook in 2018, and since then we have worked very hard to make it a place full of wonder and inspiration, where people come to make memories with friends and family, where children come to have a safe place to play in nature and be free.

Our story started long before that however…

We first laid eyes upon one another in St Kilda (Australia) in 2008 and we soon fell in silly, magical love. For a decade we made many trips across the world, living in Ireland for a time, but mostly in Australia. Our inspirations in life were colours, rhymes, and all things creative. We immersed ourselves in music and art, starting our own bands, being involved in theatre and spoken word performance and organizing our own events. Throughout this time, we met some of the most wonderful people we have both known, and had some experiences we will never forget. All the while though, our thoughts were on the future, and Ireland, where we planned to build our own little glamping wonderland, letting our creative imaginations run wild without any boss to tell us what to do! In 2018, we took our little new-born baby girl Ziggy, and we took the plunge. From then until now we have been busy building Willowbrook into what it is today.

The History of Willowbrook

In the mid 1990’s Tuesday’s parents Dave and Linda moved the whole family from their home in Kent, UK to a rural property just outside Ballaghaderreen in County Roscommon, Ireland, to fulfil their life-long dream of establishing a caravan and camping site. The property was raw, having been used as farmland for many years, but it had endless potential, with a long and gentle slope from the farmhouse down to the banks of the river Lung almost a half a mile away. Throughout her teenage years Tuesday remembers many evenings spent picking stones or weeding, helping her parents to develop the site. Between them, they created a pristine camping park with top notch facilities. Tuesday’s mum Linda, unfortunately passed away in 2024 after a long battle with cancer. We are indebted to this wonderful woman for all the hard work she put in over the years, and for the vision she had in sowing the seeds from which the Willowbrook of today has grown.

Willowbrook Today

Since we took the reins in early 2019 Willowbrook has slowly grown into much more than a campsite. First, we added some yurts to the site, and some hot tubs. We got to work painting our own personalities on Willowbrook, art on the walls, (even in the toilets), a gallery in the kitchen, local crafts in reception. Then we focused on our main mission for Willowbrook – bringing people together. We built a communal fire pit, a pizza house with a wood-fired pizza oven, a children’s fairy garden and a mud kitchen. We created events, our creative writing retreats, our annual Halloween event, art and nature classes and camps for the kids, our intimate ‘Willowbrook Whispers’ concerts, the list goes on. We thought about the vibe we wanted to create at Willowbrook, and we tailored everything to that. The site has the feel of a little village when it’s full of campers and glampers in the summer, friends and family connecting, kids making new friends and running around the green together. We work extremely hard to make Willowbrook what it is, and the reward is seeing people with smiles on their faces every day. That makes it all worthwhile.

The Future of Willowbrook

Our plans for our glamping site are big and they are made of dreams and imagination. We hope to add some more glamping units, but not so many as to sacrifice the wonderful village vibe that everyone comes here to experience. We are working on making the property more accessible to all, a challenge when working with a legacy campsite, but one we are willing to take on. Our other main focus is to create some more natural and artistic attractions around the property. Tree planting has been a constant throughout our initial few years here, we have now planted over 500 trees around the site, and we plan to continue planting each year in order to develop some beautiful little woodlands. We have a million ideas for artistic installations that would fit in nicely on our site. Some of these will forever be ideas, but many will be realised, and we hope that you can someday come to see them!
