Willowbrook Whispers #4 - Honas (London/Sligo) with support from Alkimie (Meath)

We are honoured that magnificent Irish indie-pop sensation ‘Honas’ Has agreed to come to Willowbrook to play for us, and you. We have a fantastic emerging duo from County Meath in the support slot on the night.

Sligo-born songwriter Honas attributes his openness in personality and style to the unique years of his childhood. He spent a portion of his early years living in Guyana, South America, where the obsession for music began. There, he discovered the music of The Beatles and Little Richard, while repeatedly listening to his parents’ modest CD collection, all while he soaked in the different sounds and culture in his new surroundings, school and life.

After collaborating with Lisa Hannigan, Saint Sister, Paul Noonan and others at the musical pilgrimage and performance Hibernacle in 2020, Honas spent the next years working behind the scenes, honing his craft and collaborating on projects such as songwriter & vocals for the 2022 Google Year in Search video, gaining almost 300 million views as well as his song “Control” with German producer LO amassing 20 million streams to date. Honas’ sonic evolution, guided by experiences in studios across London, Berlin and Vienna alongside acclaimed producers Marian Plösch and John Catlin (The 1975, Inhaler, Interpol, Florence & the Machine, La Roux, Warpaint and The Killers), has paved the way for his string of indie-pop singles through 2024.

Check out Honas’ song ‘Cash Machine’ here.

Formed early in 2024, Alkimie are a duo from Co. Meath consisting of members Kevin O’Brien and Trudy Maguire. They unite with a mutual interest for creating and writing new material with vocals as the focal point. The music is supported by a range of instruments including but not limited to the accordion, guitar, piano, bass guitar, bouzouki and the cajun. Collectively Alkimie’s musical tastes and experiences are very diverse which means pinning them down to a specific genre is quite difficult. They are immersed in the song-writing and recording phase at present with the intention of releasing an album next year.

Tickets €20 (inc booking fee) will be on General sale from 1st November.

If the event does not sell out, tickets will be available at the door for €25.

Tickets are transferrable but non-refundable.
